Avid Rock Concert Poster Collector Announces His Search For Original 1950s and 1960s The Biggest Show Of Stars Posters

Andrew Hawley, of Vintage Rock Posters, announces his plans to search for original The Biggest Show Of Stars posters. During the 1950's many of the biggest acts of the day performed on the same concert bill for an evening.

According to Hawley, ?Buddy Holly performed on the Biggest Show of Stars Tour in 1957 and in 1958. These multi-act shows would travel the country by bus and would perform 50 concerts in 50 nights. It was not like today where the biggest performers will fly first class and stay in luxury hotels. Many times these performers would experience bus trouble along the way or have to travel through extreme weather conditions.?

Hawley continues, ?One of the most famous package tours of the 1950's and 1960's was called The Biggest Show Of Stars which was put on and sponsored by Irving Feld who would later become the owner of Ringling Bros. And Barnum & Bailey Circus. The Biggest Show Of Stars started in 1957 and lasted through 1967. This package tour featured the latest and greatest talent and the posters that were used to advertise their upcoming concerts were the usual 17?x22? and 22?x28? window card sized posters. Many of the posters were printed by the Globe Poster Company of Baltimore, Maryland. They featured bright and beautiful colors. The posters were flashy and featured a photograph of the artist along with the title of their latest hit song. These posters are absolutely gorgeous and feature great color combinations that really make the posters pop! Sometimes the Biggest Show Of Stars Tours would simply feature a combination of great rock-n-rollers and R&B artists and in other cases it would simply be a show of just the latest and greatest Motown artists. Feld did an incredible job of bringing his audience the best talent around and the posters that were used to advertise these show are truly gorgeous pieces to display.?
