Physician Catches Fire with New Novel -- Points of Origin, While His Debut Novel, House Call, Releases This Week in Paperback

Nolensville, TN (PRWEB) October 25, 2007

Darden North, MD, has been compared many times to author John Grisham. As Grisham does with the law, North intersperses his novels with a thorough explanation of the OB/GYN medical industry. His novels are drawing a lot of attention. His new novel, Points of Origin, has been given rave reviews and his debut novel, House Call , has been so popular that it's being released this week in paperback.

House Call begins a tale of death and politics surrounding a medical community in a small town in Mississippi that's not far off base from the life that author Darden North has lived. .

The principal characters are the doctors at the OB/GYN clinic in town, the somewhat shady clinic administrator and the local Chief of Police called in to investigate the gruesome murder of a nurse. As the hunt for the killer stalls, a number of subplots are woven into the story fabric.

"I've used my life experiences and a vivid imagination to spin the tales in both House Call and Points of Origin," said North.

Points of Origin, his second novel, weaves another intricate tale in the same small community of Larkspur, Mississippi, linking the books in a series. In his latest work, the characters of the quaint, but greedy, fictional town come to life. Appearances are not a luxury but a necessity as arson, jealousy, and medical tragedy tangle with old money and secrecy in a bizarre backdrop of extravagance.

While the town, exudes southern charm, its inhabitants yearn for the more cosmopolitan. No one finds that truer than the Foxworth family. The life of handsome young Sher Foxworth fills an enviable American dream: smart kid starring as high school quarterback; successful plastic surgeon for a father; attractive, supportive mother; not to mention rich grandparents.

But when his physician father encounters a local teenage girl, her family and his are ripped apart -- throwing the life of Sher Foxworth into a downward spiral, a corkscrew that entangles more turmoil as Sher himself lands in jail. As one critic observed, "the reader will cling to the story, riding through the book to it's surprising ending."

In Points of Origin readers will sample a dose of medical thrills along with the return of characters made popular in North's 2005 debut novel House Call. Fiction lovers quickly become immersed in the tumultuous lives of the colorful inhabitants along with a new mix of personalities and jealous egos that plunges the reader into the livid world of southern intrigue.

Darden North, MD, is an obstetrician/gynecologist practicing in partnership at Jackson Healthcare for Women, PA, in Jackson, Mississippi. He is a member of the American Medical Association, the Central Mississippi Medical Society and the Jackson Gynecic Society, as well as a fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He is completing his second term as chairman of the board of Mississippi Health Partners, a Physicians and Hospital Organization. North is a diplomat of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, maintaining current board recertification in his field.

Born in Jackson and reared in Cleveland, Mississippi. North and his wife, Sally, are active members of their community and have two children. The family of four continues to make its home in Jackson with its 15-year-old cat and three dogs.

In addition to practicing medicine, North has entered the realm of writing and publishing fiction, recently completing his second mystery thriller novel while also pursuing interests in hunting, gardening and following the Ole Miss Rebels. He participates in the local Southern Writers Group and attended the 2005 Oxford (Mississippi) Conference for the Book.
